I admit I read these books because of all the love I felt for FLAMECASTER and SHADOWCASTER. I know I kinda spoiled myself for this series. It turns out that it doesn’t really matter. I fully enjoyed reading all the books in this series. I absolutely loved the world that the author has created and I am so glad I got to spend so much time in it.

This was such a fantastic fantasy series. Magic, betrayal, royalty, adventure, travel, love….it is all there and woven together beautifully. The writing is incredible and unforgettable. I am so glad I got to read these. I could not have asked for more from a series.

The story was good and it was well written. It could have used another round of proofreading/editing as there were a few contradictions, but overall it was an interesting read.
I do think the author must be a Wheel of Time fan as there are many parallel themes, but thankfully no hair pulling or overly drawn out storylines. Good for teens and adults

The characters had depth and flaws, which were wonderful.

It had the romance of Twilight, but much more "realistic" in thoughts and feelings amongst the characters.

I enjoyed all the twists and surprises too.
A wonderful fantasy series. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. The first book in the series is a little slow but if you keep with it, it becomes and enchanting story with complex characters.

This series wretched me into a whole lot of emotions. It made me laugh with the quick witted comments by Han. It made me so angry with the Bayars and their evil nature. It made me sad that the clans and wizards wouldn't get along even with everything at stake. It made me happy to watch Raisa grow from an annoying 16 year old girl worrying about who to kiss at the next party into an intelligent, caring character.
in these books, if you read all of them, everything fits, from the first book down to the last. This book has it's own dialogue and it's own history, sort of. It is really very original. this thing I love most about the book is that Han loves Raisa for just being herself. He has no ulterior motives or anything. I couldn't put it down, a real page turner
I read the first book in the series a few years ago on e-book format and wanted to buy all 4 on paperback ever since.

The package arrived fast but the case these books came in looked like it went through a pretty rough time. There was nothing protecting it either and the plastic around the box was already halfway ripped off. I found myself adding tape to the damaged areas to keep it from falling apart since the books are pretty heavy while the case is quite flimsy... However, my main focus here was getting all four books in the series and that the books themselves didn't suffer any damage -- which they didn't. The price was great and affordable, I'm satisfied with my purchase and incredibly happy about finally owning physical copies of these books but wished a bit more protection was taken into consideration so my next book box set purchase can survive the journey.
I read a lot of books of the teen adventure genre, even though I am definitely no longer a teen! I very much enjoyed this set of books. While I won't say that it was a "page turner that I couldnt put down", I was happy to return to the books night after night to see what happened next to our heros. A good series, by an author that I would be happy to continue following.
I bought this series for my daughter who had read & re-read the Percy Jackson books & was looking for a new series. She is 12 and really liked this set, asking me to buy her the follow-up series (The Shattered Realms) now that she's finished these. I did read the first book in the series & found it interesting enough. However, there is some suggestive language & the princess tends to flit from one romantic interest to the next, which I wasn't a fan of. Otherwise, it has wizards, and magic, and all the fun items you'd look for in the fantasy genre. She also really enjoys the "Keeper of the Lost Cities" series if you are looking for another suggestion!
